From Full Panic to Deadline Proof

Deadlines used to scare the life out of me. Now I embrace them with ease.
From panic to calm. The panic really kills performance and messes with my head.
The calmness lets me think straight and do better work.
Crushing deadlines is mostly about keeping my emotional state in check.
Panic isn’t all bad though. It can spark that “fire fighting” or “genius” mode when I need it.
But too much panic freezes me and paralyses everything.
Here’s what works for me now:
1) Use the early panic for a brain dump
I let that first spike help me get every task out of my head fast.
2) Set my own deadline at least a day earlier
This cuts the anxiety big time. Gives me space to review at my pace and finish calmer.
I start with a small, controlled bit of panic… and end up in a much steadier place, knowing the work is solid.
(I’ve done the full-panic route before. Nailed the deadline, but the burnout afterwards was brutal, and zero room for mistakes.)
3) Create ETAs and notes for every task
I estimate how long each bit will take and keep notes. Over time I’ve got quicker at spotting realistic timings.
This gave me the calm I needed, a clear picture so I don’t get blindsided.
4) Block my calendar with the real task times
I set the deadline a day early and block out the work. Keeps everything at a steady pace instead of chaos.
